CSEDC Working with Enterprise Zones

Enterprise zones are geographic regions that are granted special status by a government in order to encourage development and economic growth. The zones may be granted favorable tax rates, regulatory exemptions, or other incentives to encourage businesses to stay in the area or locate in it. The Illinois Enterprise Zone Program is designed to stimulate economic growth and neighborhood revitalization in economically depressed areas of the state. CSEDC works with the four Southland Enterprise Zones to market the region.

  1. Cal Sag Enterprise Zone (www.calsagezone.org), one of over 93 Enterprise Zones in The State of Illinois. These zones were created to stimulate new development and expansion in the zone, thereby creating employment and expanding the tax base in the region. The Cal Sag Enterprise Zone, established in 1983, covers certain geographical properties in the above mentioned communities. New construction and expansion of commercial and industrial projects in the Zone may qualify for significant real estate, sales tax, and construction cost savings.
